Brahma was originally produced in Brazil by the Companhia Cervejaria Brahma. Once Brazil's beer market leader, it now trails behind Skol. Brahma is now owned by the Belgian brewer, Inbev, one of the world's biggest brewers by volume. The international Brahma is derived from the exact same yeast strain that dates back to the original version, but the export version is different from its Brazilian equivalent. Inbev describes Braham as "highly refreshing, easy-to-drink beer was consistent with expectations of what a beer from Brazil should taste like."
